VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - As autumn settles into Vincennes, the vibrant red, orange, and yellow leaves that adorn our trees are beginning to fall, leaving a blanket of color across the city.
The city of Vincennes has launched its annual curbside leaf pickup program, providing a convenient way for residents to manage yard debris.
The following areas will be picked up over a four-week period starting in November:
Week 1: November 12 – 15
Willow Street to Main Street, from South 2nd Street to South 18th Street (including the Bunker Hill area)
Four Lakes area
Eastgate area (all streets off Bruceville Road, Wheatland Road, and Old U.S. 50 within city limits)
Week 2: November 18 – 22
Main Street to Hart Street, from 1st Street to Felt King Road (including the Memering Yates area)
Weed Lane, Burnett Heights, and Forrest Hills area
Week 3: November 25 – 27
Note: No pickups will occur on November 28 and 29 due to Thanksgiving.
1st Street to Kimmell Road, from Hart Street to St. Clair Avenue
Jackson Heights and Wolf Hollow area
Week 4: December 2 – 6
St. Clair Avenue to Niblack Boulevard, from Oliphant Drive to Wheeler Road area
Residents are asked by city leaders to refrain from mixing limbs and other objects with the leaves, as this can clog the intake hoses on the leaf vacuums.
In addition to curbside pickup, residents can also take their yard debris, leaves, and limbs to the city’s collection site on Old Terre Haute Road, which is open from 7:30am to 2:15pm, Monday through Friday.
Those using the site are reminded to empty their containers and take them back upon leaving.
Questions regarding pickup days can be directed to the city's Street and Sanitation Department at 812-885-2520.
