VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Construction of the new addition at the Vincennes Animal Shelter is one step closer to completion.
In recent weeks, major milestones have been reached—the floors are finished, wiring and plumbing are installed, drywall is in place, and the walls have been painted.
Now, the focus shifts to final details, including lighting, cabinets, and doors on the inside and siding on the outside.
Director Leah Reagan gave WAKC News Now a tour of the new space to see the progress firsthand.
The 650-square-foot expansion, which began in August, is designed to enhance the shelter’s ability to care for animals and serve the community.
The additional space will allow for an expanded medical exam room, a meet-and-greet room for potential adoptions, a multipurpose room for training sessions like bottle-feeding classes, and extra office space.
Beyond the new addition, the front of the existing shelter will also be updated this spring with new siding, windows, doors, lighting, and signage.
With construction entering its final phase, the project is expected to be completed later this spring.
