VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) – A Knox County car dealership has had its auto dealer’s license revoked following an investigation by the Indiana Secretary of State’s Auto Dealer Services Division.
Banks One Stop Auto, located on Essex Wire Road south of Vincennes, lost its license on Monday after a nine-month long investigation.
According to a document on the state’s website, a field examiner began investigating the dealership on July 31, 2024.
The Division determined that the dealer:
Engaged in fraud or deceit related to its license,
Submitted falsified inspection forms and bills of sale to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), and
Used another person’s signature—without their knowledge or authorization—on as many as 92 documents.
The Division ruled that each violation is subject to a fine. In addition to revoking the license, the state ordered the dealership to return all permanent metal dealer plates within 30 days.
If the plates are not returned by the deadline, a $500 fine may be imposed.
The document also states that the owners, James Banks and Tanna Banks are barred from applying for, operating, or being in control of a dealership in Indiana at any time in the future.
