VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - Students, teachers, friends, and family are mourning the loss of South Knox Elementary School teacher Ashlynn Smith.
Smith passed away on Thursday.
The news was confirmed in a statement released by South Knox Superintendent Jeff Cochren.
Smith is a described as dedicated fifth-grade teacher who left a lasting impression on her students and colleagues.
"Ashlynn was an exceptional educator, mentor, and friend who made a lasting impact on the lives of her students and colleagues alike," said Cochren.
"Her dedication, passion for teaching, and unwavering kindness will be profoundly missed."
Counselors and clergy will be available to provide support for students and staff in need.
