Road Closure Alert: Part of 6th Street to Close Next Week

VINCENNES, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - A section of 6th Street in Vincennes will be closed to traffic starting next week.

Beginning Monday, April 14, 6th Street will be closed from Willow Street to Vigo Street.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the closure will allow crews to complete patching and resurfacing work on the roadway.

This phase of the project is expected to continue through the end of May, weather permitting.

The work is part of the larger State Road 441 improvement project.

The project includes repaving and upgrades along Willow Street from Ramsey Road to 6th Street, then along 6th Street from Willow to Vigo, and finally along Vigo Street from 6th Street to the Memorial Bridge.

In the coming months, the project will also add ADA-compliant curb ramps to existing sidewalks and improve the intersections at 6th and Willow, as well as 6th and Vigo, to better accommodate larger vehicles like semi-trucks.
