KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - The Local Disaster Emergency Declaration, issued early Monday morning, has been lifted.
The declaration was lifted at 6:00pm, and Knox County has been downgraded from a travel warning to a travel watch.
This means only essential travel, such as commuting to and from work or during emergencies, is recommended.
Previously, individuals, except for emergency workers, were advised to avoid all travel due to hazardous road conditions.
Knox County Commissioner Kellie Streeter stated that city and county highway workers have worked tirelessly to plow and treat primary roadways.
"We want to thank residents for refraining from travel, as this allowed road workers to perform their duties safely," said Streeter.
Knox County EMA Director John Streeter told WAKC News Now no major accidents or slide-offs were reported during the storm.
Bicknell City offices, Vincennes City offices, and Knox County Government offices will reopen on Tuesday.
Schools across Knox County and several local businesses will remain closed.
