Highway 41 Lane Restrictions

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced lane restrictions for U.S. 41 south Vincennes in preparation for an upcoming structure replacement project.

Beginning on or around Monday, March 8, contractors will close the passing lanes both north and southbound on U.S. 41 between St. Thomas Road and Halter Road.

Workers will begin constructing a cross over in advance of a structure replacement project, scheduled to begin shortly after. The crossover will allow for single lane north and southbound traffic while crews work in the closed lanes.

Following the construction of the crossover, traffic will be moved to the southbound lanes while crews work in the northbound lanes. Widths will be restricted to 16 feet. All loads over 16 feet should seek an alternate route using the nearest numbered state, U.S. or Interstate routes. Work will shift to the southbound lanes once work in the northbound lanes is complete.

The entire project is scheduled to last until late July depending upon weather conditions.

INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
