KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (We Are Knox County) - The Knox County Emergency Management Agency is better prepared for disasters thanks for a recent donation from the Duke Energy Foundation.
The $11,000 was given to the Knox County Emergency Management Agency on Tuesday.
EMA Director John Streeter told WAKC News Now the money was used to buy 100 new cots for the county’s portable shelter trailer, replacing old ones that were falling apart.
“This is phase one,” Streeter said.
“We hope to buy 100 more so we can quickly set up a 200-bed shelter when needed.”
The upgrade will help the county respond faster to both natural and manmade disasters.
